Management Of Teachers’ Interest And Work Attitude As Predictors Of Their Effective Instructional Delivery In Secondary Schools In Obollo Education Zone, Enugu State

The study investigated management of teachers’ interest and work attitude as predictors of effective instructional delivery in secondary schools in Obollo Education Zone, Enugu State. The study adopted a correlation survey research design with a population of 1,806 teachers in 48 public secondary schools in Obollo Education Zone, Enugu State. The sample size was 181 teachers drawn through simple random sampling technique representing 10% of the population. Management of Teachers’ Interest Scale (MTIS), Work Attitude Scale (WAS) and Effective Instructional Delivery Scale (EIDS) were used for data collection. The instruments were face validated by three experts from the relevant areas. Internal consistency reliability was computed through Cronbach alpha to give the coefficients of 0.88, 0.76 and 0.81 for Management of Teachers’ Interest Scale (MTIS), Work Attitude Scale (WAS) and Effective Instructional Delivery Scale (EIDS). Linear regression was used to answer the research questions while t-test associated with linear regression was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Based on the findings of this study, the researchers concluded that management of teachers’ interest and work attitude can predict effective instructional delivery to a high extent in secondary schools in Obollo Education Zone, Enugu State The school principals should provide the required instructional materials in the various areas of specialization in order to arouse their interest in instructional delivery in secondary schools in Obollo Education Zone, Enugu State. The principals should develop teachers’ positive work attitude through the provision of adequate reward management strategies of recognition incentives among others.
