Abstract

The networks of informal relationships that employees form across organisation has the ability to cut through formal organisation hierarchy to revive shelved projects, accomplish tasks and meet extraordinary targets. But often what needs attention is that the informal networks can easily disrupt organisation’s best placed strategies by stalling communication and provoking obstruction to change. One of the main reasons for the existence of the informal network is to satisfy the need of affiliation. similarly, there are also variables that can cause dissolution of informal networks. This paper mainly goes on to explore and identify the variables that causes the dissolution of the informal network. From the available literature it has been identified that experience, common interests, gender attraction, organisational transformation, organisational framework, code of conduct, embodied knowledge, group adherence are some of the variables that can cause dissolution of the informal network.
