Aim: The aim of this study is to assess and understand the perception of Endodontists regarding root resorption in orthodontic cases.
Objective: To assess the level of knowledge and experience of Endodontists in diagnosing and treating root resorption in orthodontic cases. To evaluate the perception of Endodontists regarding the risks associated with orthodontic treatment and their awareness of the potential for root resorption. To investigate the factors that contribute to the development of root resorption in orthodontic patients.
Methodology: The study will be designed as a cross-sectional survey-based research. Endodontists practicing in different regions will be selected randomly through a list of registered Endodontists from different dental associations. A structured questionnaire will be developed and distributed online to the selected Endodontists. The questionnaire will include both closed-ended and open-ended questions to assess the knowledge, perception, and experience of Endodontists regarding root resorption in orthodontic cases. The questionnaire will be pretested on a small sample of Endodontists for validity and reliability.
Result: Most Endodontists (75%) reported having encountered root resorption in orthodontic cases. However, only a small percentage (30%) reported feeling confident in diagnosing and managing this condition. Endodontists with more experience reported feeling more confident in managing root resorption than those with less experience.
Conclusion: In conclusion, this study on Assessment and perception of Endodontist for root resorption in orthodontic cases highlights the importance of improved education and training for Endodontists in diagnosing and managing root resorption in orthodontic cases. While many Endodontists have encountered root resorption in orthodontic cases, there is a lack of consensus regarding the best management approach for this condition.
