Assessment Of Effect Of COVID-19 On Agricultural Economy

Background: The outbreak of the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic posed a significant threat to health with a ripple effect on various sectors impacting human life. The assessment of effect of covid-19 on agricultural economy.
Materials & methods: A total of 200 farmers completed the survey (94% male; 28% 30–39 years old; 38% with secondary schooling). The land on the basis of size was included as small, medium and large. The crops such as wheat, vegetables and maize were included. The result was analysed using SPSS software.
Results: The values are much lower than reported previously for farmers in India around this time of year before COVID-19. A majority of participants with farm size landless had harvested wheat in the past month (60%) followed by vegetables (5%), and maize (10%). In small area, wheat (48%), vegetables (20%) and maize 5%.
Conclusion: COVID-19 lockdown in India has primarily impacted farmers’ ability to sow and sell their crops.
