Osteonecrosis is still a difficult condition to manage, frequently affecting young people who seek an active lifestyle. In addition, osteonecrosis is a difficult pathologic entity because of limitations of femoral head terminal blood flow and major biomechanical loads through the hip that can lead to collapse. Early diagnosis is crucial, MRI is the gold standard diagnostic tool, also good attention to a detailed history and physical examination is important. Preservation of the femoral head is the primary goal of any intervention modality before collapse, therefore individualized selection of an appropriate treatment strategy for each patient is necessary according to age, sex, level of activity, stage of the disease and size of the lesion. The aim of the present study was to review different modalities with core decompression using for management of osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
