Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAPs) of EMS paramedics regarding seasonal influenza and influenza vaccination as well as to highlight the factors that influence their decision to accept or refuse the influenza vaccine.

Method: A cross-sectional survey of EMS paramedics in Saudi Arabia was carried out, and information was gathered using a self-administered questionnaire. A 5-point Likert scale, from strongly disagree to strongly agree, was used to record the answers. The questionnaire was created to evaluate the KAPs associated with seasonal flu and influenza vaccination, in addition to obtain data on the factors influencing vaccine acceptance or rejection.

Results and Discussion: The symptoms, characteristics, and propagation of seasonal influenza were well known to EMS paramedics. A total of 760 research forms were submitted for the study, and 452 paramedics (59.47%) responded. EMS paramedics gave a variety of reasons for their decisions, some of which included personal views, doubts about the vaccine's safety and efficiency or practical difficulties with becoming vaccinated.

Conclusion: The level of influenza vaccination among paramedics remains below standard level. The study recognizes the significance of continuous education and communication among EMS paramedics regarding seasonal influenza and influenza vaccination.
