Abstract

Oral health plays an important role in the general health and psychological state of the person, which affects general health and quality of life. Although oral health and general health are interrelated, preserving oral health in older age is undoubtedly more challenging with emerging challenges such as providing sufficient dental care. Despite the fact that only a small percentage of elderly people have physical or mental conditions that need special attention in the dental workplace; one shouldn't assume that the whole elderly community has these conditions. Knowing a few things about becoming older is crucial for maintaining health. As in older age, their body tissues get tougher, waste accumulates in their cells, and lubrication decreases which leads to impairing the ability of numerous organs to operate properly. The dental profession has several difficulties in developing and implementing comprehensive preventive dentistry procedures for elderly patients. There are several elements that are common to the geriatric population globally that may impact these protocols, even though a specific protocol must be designed to fit the specific needs of each patient.
