Abstract

Anomalies of the origin of great vessels of the neck are well known and often associated with other conditions. Absence of common carotid artery is a rare anomaly with only 25 reported cases worldwide. We report a case of agenesis of left common carotid artery with direct origin of both ipsilateral hypoplastic internal carotid artery and external carotid artery from the aortic arch in a middle-aged male patient presenting with acute stroke.
