ASSESSMENT OF ADVERSE EFFECTS FOLLOWING COVID-19 VACCINATION AMONG THE HEALTH CARE WORKERS AT A TERTIARY HEALTH CARE CENTRE

Background: The adverse event may be any unfavourable or unintended sign, abnormal laboratory finding, symptom or disease. The present study was conducted to assess adverse effects following COVID-19 vaccination among the health care workers at a tertiary health care centre.
Materials & Methods: 168 health care workers who received COVID- 19 vaccine of both genders were enrolled. AEFIs were recorded as mild AEFI, moderate and severe.
Results: Out of 168 subjects, males were 90 and females were 78. AE after 1st dose and 2nd dose reported were headache in 34 and 22, body ache in 82 and 11, fever in 134 and 96, pain at vaccine site in 80 and 70, shivering in 15 and 6, weakness in 8 and 2, disability in 2 and 0 and others in 17 and 23 respectively. The difference was significant (P< 0.05). Severity was mild seen in 122 after 1st dose and 136 after 2nd dose, moderate in 45 seen after 1st dose and 30 after 2nd dose and severe in 1 and 2 respectively. The difference was significant (P< 0.05).
Conclusion: Maximum HCWs had mild AE. Adverse event seen were headache, body ache, fever, pain at vaccine site, shivering, weakness, disability and others.
