Knowledge, Attitude And Awareness About OPMD Among Private Dental Practitioners Of Bhubaneswar City

Background: Oral cancer is one of the commonest cancers in Indian subcontinent affecting millions of people. Early detection of the oral mucosal lesions would improve the prognosis of the treatment of oral cancer.
Aims and Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the levels of knowledge, attitude and practice among the dental clinicians in Bhubaneswar city of India.
Methodology: A cross-sectional, web-based survey was conducted to identify the levels of knowledge, attitude and practice among the 153 dental clinicians in Bhubaneswar City. Pilot testing was done prior to the study. Descriptive statistics were calculated and presented.
Results: Moderate knowledge levels were identified among the clinicians. A statistically significant correlation was noted between the knowledge and attitude domain.
Conclusion: The study infers the need to improve the knowledge levels of the dental clinicians to detect the oral lesions at an early stage to reduce the incidence of oral cancer.
