Sleep is a naturally recurring state of mind and body characterized by altered consciousness, relatively inhibited sensory activity, inhibition of nearly all voluntary muscles, and reduced interactions with surroundings. The Benson’s relaxation technique led to complete relaxation of all the muscles and easy to use methods for treatment of sleep disorders. Quasi experimental design was adapted for conducting the study. This study was conducted in Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry. Sample included 40 abdominal surgery patients with sleep disturbances, who were selected by convenience sampling technique. Data was collected using Demographic and Clinical variables, Groningen sleep quality scale. The calculated ‘t’ value was 17.2, which was greater than the tabulated value P < 0.001***. The result of this study concluded that the Benson’s relaxation response was effective for quality of sleep among post operative patients.
