Abstract

Background: Obesity is a major public health issue that causes significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. In order to develop interventional strategies, it is necessary to investigate people’s knowledge, attitudes, and practises regarding obesity and lifestyle.
Aim and objectives: The primary aim of this study is to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practise of obesity among general population. The objective of this study is to rule out the factors influencing obesity and lifestyle.
Results: There was a positive correlation for attitude based on knowledge and practise. Poor correlation was observed between knowledge scores and practice. It has been found that there was a significant difference in practice of obesity with a positive attitude and moderate knowledge. Whereas, there is a significant difference between the attitude (P<0.05) and practice (<0.01) of the participants towards their Occupational status.
Conclusion: The majority of the general population have moderate knowledge about Obesity and its impact on lifestyle and diseases; also have positive views about the practise of healthy lifestyle and its importance. Hence, they are positively willing to adopt and practise healthy lifestyle measures for the prevention of obesity.
