Abstract

Numerous notable works written in the backdrop of India’s Partition (1947) elaborately depict a sense of loss and constant longing among the migrants of the unfortunate event. There is a continuous yearning in them for their long lost homes or homelands they left behind in sheer helplessness. The paper discusses broadly the reasons behind such unsettling feelings and impact of the whole scenario on the identities of the migrants moreover contemplating the role of memory and trauma in shaping their post-partition personalities.
