Traditional Medicinal Plants Of The Tribal In Tripura, India

In Tribal society of Tripura, India, majority of the populace followed traditional method of treatment. Traditional healing system is the oldest form of treatment that is based on underlying philosophy and a set of principles by which it is practiced. It is the medicine from which all the present forms of medicine are developed. Traditional healing practice was originally an integral part of semi-nomadic and agricultural tribal societies. Traditional healer can be defined as someone who is recognised by the community in which he lives as competent to provide health care by using vegetable, animal and mineral substances based on the social, cultural and religious background. Information on forty eight plant species from thirty families are presented here.
